Welcome to the first-ever Bob Fatkin Junior Bonspiel – a celebration of youth curling, community spirit, and friendly competition at the Abbotsford Curling Club!

Cash prizes for all divisions, cash per game win and for top two playoff teams in each division.
Taco lunch and ice cream served for all participants on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
All games will be 1:45 with buzzer and complete that end. Finals 3PM Sunday 8 ends no buzzer.

This event will be live streamed on the Abbotsford Curling YouTube channel.

7:30 AM: Muffins and juice for Players.
8:00 AM: Introduction/Opening ceremony, all teams in first draw to be at the rink ready to go at 7:45AM. Teams from the second draw wishing to participate in the opening ceremonies are welcome but must notify tournament director beforehand so we can prepare for your team. All teams in first or second draw must check in prior to play on first day.

8:30 AM: First Draw
Lunch: First Sitting 11:00 AM – Second Sitting 1:00 PM lunch tickets provided in team package at check in Saturday. Taco lunch with options for Beef, Chicken and Vegetarian.

Due to Nut allergies please do not bring nut snacks into the facility. Thank you for your cooperation.

Draws:

Bonspiel Rules:

  1. Mandatory coaches meeting 15 minutes before 1st draw on Saturday.
  2. Competitive teams throw warm-up shots for 5 minutes each, then both teams draw to the button twice, cumulative measure of the two to determine hammer. Teams must be on ice 20 minutes before the game for warm-up throws and draw to button.
  3. All Novice/Intermediate teams must be on ice 10 minutes prior to game start time. Novice/Intermediate use a coin toss to determine hammer.
  4. Teams will be given a 5-minute grace period from the start time, if they arrive after that 5-minute period they will forfeit the first end 1 – 0 and if later than 15 minutes they will forfeit the game. Forfeit game will be scored 1-0 win.
  5. One Interaction per team per end of 45 seconds maximum when a timeout is called. Coaches cannot communicate with their players including the use of electronic devices.
  6. Round Robin play, Buzzer goes at 1:40 teams then finish that end plus one more.
  7. Scoring: Win = 3 pts, Tiebreaker Win = 2 points, Tiebreaker loss = 1 point, loss = 0 points.
  8. Round Robin Tiebreaker: one player from each team throws one rock to button to determine Tiebreaker win or Tiebreaker loss.
  9. Five Rock rule in place, ticks are allowed.
  10. Coaches can interact with teams during timeout. Coach can observe and help in measurements for Novice/Intermediate. If a clear winner cannot be determined, then the Bonspiel Official will measure and decide.
  11. Intermediate and Novice Teams in Round Robin will earn $5 per end won to be paid out at the end of the game to the two skips.
  12. Finals on Sunday will be 8 ends with a no time limit on the game.

    1. Team with the best Win/Loss record has choice of Hammer or Rock colour.
    2. Tie Breakers – All categories – Head-to-Head first
    3. Competitive –Cumulative total of draw to button over the four round robin games.
    4. If still tied – Follow the normal coin flip for practice and then a draw to the button to determine the tie break.
